Youth and Women's America's Cup Challenges

17-26th September: Unicredit Youth America’s Cup

5-13th October: Puig Women’s America’s Cup

Racing starts at 2pm on race days and runs until 4.30 or 5 pm depending on race schedule.

 Join us at the pier of Port Olimpic to cheer for the Swedish Challenge teams.

Pool A: New Zealand, Great Britain, USA, Italy, Switzerland, France

Pool B: Sweden, Spain, The Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Australia

Swedish Challenge Youth Scheduled Race Days

  • 18 September: Pool B
  • 21 September: Pool B
  • 22 September: Top 6 after first round
  • 23-25 September: Reserve days
  • 26 September: Final match race (top 2 racing in one final race)

Swedish Challenge Women's Race Scheduled Days

  • 6 October: Pool B
  • 9 October: Pool B
  • 11 October: Top 6 after first round
  • 13 October: Final match race (top 2 racing in one final race)
  • 14-15 October: Reserve days

Race Course

The races will be sailed out of Port Olimpic in Barcelona, with each race lasting 15-18 minutes. 

The course is a windward-leeward course - boats go upwind from a start line to the top mark gate and downwind to the bottom gate.

Every race will be two laps of the course. The course will be limited in width with boundaries on all sides that the boats must stay within. 

Further Information

  • In total 12 women's and 12 youth teams will participate.
  • Six of these teams are from the nations competing in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup. These six teams will race in Pool A.
  • The other six teams are invited teams who will race in Pool B. Sweden is an invited team in Pool B.
  • During qualification days the Swedish Challenge teams will be racing five other boats in fleet races.
  • From the first qualification round the top three from Pool A and top three from Pool B will move on to stage two.
  • From stage two the top 2 will move on to one final match race, the winner takes it all!
